For the Children’s Centre we were tasked with providing a low maintenance, flexible space able to accommodate community or commercial uses. The first tenants will be a day nursery on the ground floor with a children’s gymnastics centre above. Although it is constructed to a limited budget, the building needed to have an architectural presence as it occupies a prominent location at the entrance to the Hub. A simple cubic volume punched through with randomised windows emphasises the block’s sculptural qualities and creates a playful facade. The building has been well received by the children.
