The brief calls for an activity-based centre for children of two age groups. This basic split is taken as the starting point to divide the complex around a central public space creating a town square which is currently lacking. The two halves are linked by bridges, one straight and enclosed, the other winding and open.
Part of the existing factory building is retained and the gable end forms the main entrance. From there, visitors rise up into the largest block which houses a refectory and courtyard playground on its lowest level with main exhibition spaces above. From there an external ramp connects to more play areas on the roof. The second block at the end of the bridges houses activities for older children including studios, workshops and indoor and outdoor theatres.
