With the improved political climate in recent years Northern Ireland is developing its cultural institutions. The new home for the Old Museum Arts Centre (OMAC) will contain two new performance spaces, rehearsal rooms, extensive art galleries and educational facilities.
Our proposal creates a focal point for the new square being built alongside, drawing visitors into the building. A grand stair works its way up through the centre of the building connecting the major functions. The building is intended to encourage public engagement while retaining the intimacy that is so valued in OMAC’s former home.
Extensive research was carried out to integrate a large brief on a restricted site to deliver world class facilities for exhibition and performance.
